Rising like the St. Martin's Summer sun (this is what L'Estate di San martino means), the group presents its third album, a true masterpiece often referred to as the work of maturity. Formed back in 1975 in Perugia, the group managed to touch the music scene by releasing a single in 1978, only to disappear into the darkness of oblivion for several years. In 1983, they emerged again with a live concert, an occasion that only saw the light of day in 2006 under the name "Alder."

Five years after their previous album "Febo" (2007), finally comes "Talsete di Marsantino," a mostly acoustic and instrumental record. The album relies on deft acoustic guitar arpeggios and electric solos, textures of keyboards and forays of flute and saxophone. Although virtually devoid of lyrics, the album constitutes a concept to be discovered by scrolling through the tale of Talsete di Marsantino, a purely fictional character. He is charged with preserving the entirety of human knowledge, and is faced with his greatest challenge: facing the inescapable passage of time and memories.

This more than welcome return of L'Estate di San Martino is not only their triumph, but sees the collaboration of distinguished figures from the Italian and international progressive scene, including Francesco di Giacomo (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso), Bernardo Lanzetti (Premiata Forneria Marconi) and Steve Hackett (Genesis). A work that stands as a testament to their legacy and their unstoppable artistic evolution.

Risorgendo come il sole dell'Estate di San Martino, il gruppo presenta il suo terzo album, un vero capolavoro spesso indicato come l'opera della maturità. Nato nel lontano 1975 a Perugia, il gruppo riuscì a sfiorare la scena musicale pubblicando un singolo nel 1978, solo per poi scomparire nel buio dell'oblio per diversi anni. Nel 1983, emerse di nuovo con un concerto dal vivo, un'occasione che vide la luce solamente nel 2006 sotto il nome di "Alder".

A distanza di cinque anni dal loro precedente album "Febo" (2007), arriva finalmente "Talsete di Marsantino", un disco prevalentemente acustico e strumentale. L'album si fonda su abili arpeggi di chitarra acustica e soli elettrici, tessuti di tastiere e incursioni di flauto e sassofono. Benché privo praticamente di testi, l'album costituisce un concept da scoprire scorrendo il racconto di Talsete di Marsantino, un personaggio di pura fantasia. Egli è incaricato di conservare l'intera conoscenza umana, e si ritrova di fronte alla sua sfida più grande: affrontare l'ineluttabile scorrere del tempo e dei ricordi.

Questo ritorno più che gradito de L'Estate di San Martino non è solo un loro trionfo, ma vede la collaborazione di illustri figure del panorama progressive italiano e internazionale, tra cui Francesco di Giacomo (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso), Bernardo Lanzetti (Premiata Forneria Marconi) e Steve Hackett (Genesis). Un'opera che si erge come testimonianza della loro eredità e della loro inarrestabile evoluzione artistica.

Fell in love with BBT recently, absolutely love the stories they tell and the music. Very sad to hear about David’s passing, listening now is quite moving, moved to tears from time to time, but we move on as I hope BBT will with David in our hearts. tonyauroristony58

The album takes off nicely with David Longdon's "The Strangest Times", but then gets into immediate free fall and deeply underwater for the next few tracks, quite unexpectedly. Fortunately, it recovers with Nick D'Virgilio's "Apollo" (hey, this guy CAN write good music, although he hides this ability most of the time) and the remaining three tracks, one of which is another Longdon masterpiece.
